This movie starts off by going into a flash back and is told as a story through the narration of the supporting characters. Then when the story goes back to the flashback of a few years earlier, the three main characters are introduced and their position in college. This movie takes the reality of college life experience into a whole another level by showing how happiness cannot be achieved no matter how much money one has. Even though there are many rich students who go to this knobble and royal college, there are so many hidden problems that each student has to face no matter how much or how little money they have. However, every year the college has an annual student of the year competition in which any student weather rich or poor, boy or girl can participate in and receive an award with a trophy being stated as the Student of the Year.
Since there are so many student and just one prize, the competition is created to be very challenging and this is when all the struggling students manage to show their hidden talents and are given an opportunity to reach their limits. The three main characters, Shanaya, Siddhartha, and Rohan become very close friends during that time, however because a love triangle develops in between, the Student of the Year competition becomes a war between them causing their friendship to fall apart.
This movie has many interesting aspects of life shown in a very interconnecting way. It not only shows the experience of making friends in school and developing relationships, but also the family and love struggles student face leading them to make harsh and unchangeable decisions which they regret late after. The quality of the movie is very clear and the lighting is shone very smoothly and lightly giving a natural and light mood to the viewer. Also even though this movie has many sad and negatively impacting scenes, in order to equalize it, there are very cute and hilarious uses of dialogue.
In order to keep the audience entertained throughout the movie, there are a few songs inserted, each one no more than 3-4 minutes. In addition, the movie captures the attention of the viewer by always keeping them guessing of what will happen in the next scene which is a great technique used by the writer to keep the audience pleased and assured that watching this movie is not just a waste of time or money, instead having every moment count as the best that they will have weather they are watching alone or with another family member.
This movie is very appropriate and watchable with no age restrictions what so ever because there is no great violence or bad language used in it that could possibly be considered harmful to anyone. Even though the movie is made in Hindi, there are subtitles included in some form for the English speakers who want to enjoy watching it and since it’s not a long movie, it can be considered efficient and well worthy of its price. There are so many types of characters in the movie, each with different kinds of backgrounds that can be related to which becomes interesting for the viewer because that creates a personal connection between the movie and the viewer, giving them an enjoyable experience of watching an interesting college life story twist.
If my opinion matters and you as a viewer would like to know how I would rate this movie then I would give this movie all five stars because this movie does not have any bad experience to offer to its viewers, or in this case to me. I enjoyed watching it because of its awesome quality and awesome casting, the roles fit perfectly to the cast chosen. This is something I consider very important especially is the movie being produced has comedy in it because not everyone possesses the talent to make someone laugh.
If you’re looking for a new and interesting type of romantic comedy, then this will be one of your best options. Since it is a foreign movie, it can give you an insight into how other cultures are performed throughout Bollywood. Again as I stated, there is nothing except the best that you can receive from this totally worthy to watch eye candy.
